Dr. Brian Buchanan, D.C. grew up as an athlete in the now-famous central California town of McFarland. He grew up in the outdoors in a farming community where you had to be creative and make up your own fun, games and sports. He played trombone in the elementary school band where he learned to love music, and he competed in many sports while in school.
He received the All-League Award and Most Valuable Player award in baseball. He was a very successful sprinter and jumper for coach Jim White - the famous coach remember the movie McFarland, USA? That was Coach Jim. Brian Buchanan graduated from high school in 1983 to attend College of the Sequoias and graduated with an Associated Degree in 1986. He was still not sure what he wanted to study but after taking a break for a year in Lake Tahoe, he confirmed his interest in health, fitness, and athletics.
Brian Buchanan moved to San Luis Obispo to attend Cuesta College when he was hit in a rear-end automobile collision. His neck and low back were injured, and the muscle relaxants and painkillers prescribed by the medical doctor didn't help.
