Causes of carpal tunnel syndrome can be attributed to fluid retention, compression and repetitive irritation of the median nerve on the palm side of the wrist.
These issues can result in intense pain or numbness in the part of the hand that utilizes this nerve, namely the thumb and first two fingers.
