Dr. Michael A. Cocco provides quality chiropractic care to patients in New Haven County. Whether you're searching for effective pain relief or a way to boost whole body wellness, Dr. Cocco can help. I have been a patient of Dr. Cocco for over two years now, first for a shoulder issue and then an unrelated neck problem. My wife is also a patient for her back and hips.
We are big fans of Dr. Cocco. We appreciate his patience and the deliberate, methodical way he works us through the various stages of treatment. He truly seems to enjoy working with us and guiding our own efforts toward recovery. Cocco is great, always has helped me though it usually takes a few sessions (but I have had that experience with other chiropractors, too).
I still see him even though he's not in network with my new insurance, because I trust him, and they always get you in quickly. Cocco helped me resolve a chronic pain problem which I had suffered with for years. I had consulted orthopedic doctors and a rheumatologist with no change or even a definitive diagnosis.

Hi, I am Dr. Michael Cocco and I have been a Chiropractor for over 35 years and still get excited to help my patients attain improved health through a holistic approach.
After graduating from Amity High School I attended Southern Connecticut State University.
I continued my education at New York Chiropractic College, and in post graduate courses in neurology, nutrition, radiology, exercise rehabilitation, acupuncture, and various soft tissue approaches including Graston.
Over the years I have learned a lot about integrating natural health approaches with modern day living.

Myofascial Release is a form of soft tissue therapy.
Myo means of or relating to muscle and fascia is the tissue that holds muscles together and forms the bridge between muscles creating support for our entire body.
The fascia allows forces to be transferred from one muscle to another and creates movement at the joints while still allowing suppleness and mobility.
This approach is used to treat adhesions, scar tissue, inflammation and increased density in both the muscles and the fascia.
These fascial changes are often felt by the chiropractor as increased density of the muscle and are usually tender to touch.

Dry needling is a myofascial trigger/tender point technique whose purpose is to neutralize dysfunctional connective tissue and restore or improve muscle functionality.
The proceure is valuable both diagnostically and therapeutically and the therapy acts to disrupt physiologically locked soft tissue.
The benefits of this can be far reaching as myofascial pain and tightness play a key role in most musculoskeletal pain syndromes.
Dissipating trigger points can be crucial in reducing pain generations in both the spinal and peripheral regions.
