Hug Chiropractic
We are pleased that you have taken the time to learn more about Hug Chiropractic Clinic. Dr. Reginald Hug acquired the practice in 1971 and built a model for chiropractic care that was ethical, honest and based on quality research. In 2003 he announced his successor, Dr. Brad Russell, who has endeavored to use contemporary scientific evidence to provide the best care not only to the over the mountain community but now to the greater Birmingham area as well.

Recognizing the need for high quality chiropractic care in adjacent areas around Birmingham, we began recruiting exceptional like-minded chiropractors who strive to deliver superior, conservative treatment. Dr. Lake Franklin joined the practice in 2008 followed by Dr. Jill Bivona in 2016. We acquired Dr. Jonathan Griffiths' practice in Clay/Chalkville in 2012 staffed by Dr. Bill Elliott and opened a Gardendale/Fultondale facility in 2016 staffed by Dr. Kent Glover.

Our mission is to provide the most conservative, evidenced-based, ethical, and effective treatment model for patients suffering from mechanical pain, i.e., back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches and other pain syndromes related to muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and joints.

We understand that arriving at a doctor's office for the first time can be uncomfortable.
If you've never experienced chiropractic care or never had an injury before, you may not know what to expect.
Filling out paperwork, learning new faces and names, and getting to know your way around the office can be an overwhelming experience.
We have created this area of the website to help you become more comfortable with our office.
You will be able to take care of items necessary for your visit prior to arriving.
Chiropractic care unfortunately is unlikely to produce miracles.
But occasionally we do see some exceptional outcomes.
In reality most patients end up visiting a Chiropractor in a series of treatments for any given condition.
Pain is usually what finally motivates a patient to call us.
An appropriate evaluation will reveal if the pain stems from a problem that we can help, and if so, we will typically recommend working in short treatment blocks, assessing for progress at appropriate intervals.
Current insurance and research guidelines suggest that pain relief will take on average of 5-10 treatments usually over a 2-3 week period.
This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition as well as financial policies and our privacy notices.
Prior to incurring any financial obligations, we will always extend the courtesy of providing you, in advance, a clear transcript of the details of your insurance coverage.
Our insurance specialist will also offer answers to any questions and will address any financial concerns that you may have.
You will then meet with one of our doctors so that we may learn more about you, your condition, and your expectations to determine how chiropractic care may or may not meet your goals.
Orthopedic healing times vary dramatically and depend on many factors such as injury severity, age, and even even a patient's attitude.
Generally speaking healing times range from 4-6 weeks but may take longer.
Home-based spinal stability, functional training and core strengthening programs are sufficient for the majority of mechanical pain patients.
However, we may access one of our partners in care for those in need of supervised rehabilitation.
