Dr. Gwen practices Diversified chiropractic.
Diversified chiropractors use as many different techniques as possible to treat patients.
This allows her to develop a treatment plan that will address each patient's specific needs, and allow her to include many different aspects of health.
Exercise, stretching, nutrition, and sleeping habits are all important to look at when evaluating health, and are often a part of treatment plans in her office.
At Kelly Chiropractic, P.A., Dr. Gwen will help you learn about chiropractic, your health, and things you can do to improve and maintain your health.
The first thing to remember when starting a stretching program is that the goal is to increase flexibility and functioning of the muscle.
We are not trying to inflict pain.
If you are feeling pain during a stretch there are a couple of things you can do.
First try decreasing the intensity of the stretch by not going into the stretch as far.
If there is still pain, then stop doing the stretch and ask your doctor what you should do.
Stretches can be modified by your doctor so that they are not causing any pain.
One of the primary sources of back pain is subluxation.
A subluxation is the malposition of and/or abnormal function of a motion segment (a joint and surrounding bone and tissue) that can affect the nervous system, muscles, organs, and other systems of the body.
The following is what the Association of Chiropractic Colleges has to say in it's Position Paper #1 concerning chiropractic and the treatment of subluxations.
A subluxation can happen in any joint, so chiropractic care also involves the extremities (arms and legs).
YES! Exercise is safe and beneficial during pregnancy.
There is no evidence of harmful effects of exercise on pregnancy.
But because of the lack of evidence, it is important to know how to exercise properly, and to talk with your chiropractor about making a program of exercise that is right for you.
The recommendations for exercise during pregnancy are that the same level of exercise from before pregnancy is maintained.
If you have never exercised, you may be able to start a mild exercise program including exercises for the muscles used in pregnancy.
The coaching team here at Mini-Hops is aware of how important it is to have children avoid W-sitting.
Children at Mini-Hops are reminded not to use the W-sit.
But, since your child's coach can't correct the problem outside of the gym, your help is needed!
The W-sit is a position similar to kneeling.
Children will sit with their knees together, but the feet are off to each side and the buttocks touches the ground.
Your child may prefer the W-sit due to the developmental stage he or she is in, or due to muscle and joint imbalances he/she already has.
