Our doctor will then conduct an interview, taking a history of your current condition, and any related prior issues. Next, a thorough exam will be performed in an effort to accurately diagnose, and decide on the best treatment plan for your condition. You will receive treatment on your first visit. At times one treatment will result in drastic, and sometimes even complete resolution of the problem.

Most often a series of treatments are required to optimize healing and adequately teach preventive home care measures. Besides the education of proper stretching and strengthening techniques, we often provide herbal or other natural medicines and/or supports to assist in the healing process. We are very sensitive to the perceived issue of expense sometimes preventing patients from coming in for needed care.

Thus, we work hard to keep our rates very affordable. Most insurance companies cover chiropractic care. You will be expected to pay your percentage or co-pay at the time of your visit. The initial visit includes an examination fee, as well as treatment charge.

I have experienced constant lower back pain from an injury ten years ago.
In the past, I have tried chiropractic care, physical therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, and cortisone injections.
Each treatment provided temporary pain relief, but no long-term improvement.
I had decided to live with it, until I experienced numbness down both legs and into my feet.
I made an appointment at Hartwell Chiropractic because it was a local, in-network provider of my insurance plan.
Dr. Hartwell took time to understand my injury and previous attempts to treat it.
Chiropractors often utilize instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization therapy (IASTT) when managing certain conditions as part of their treatment plans.
We often get questions about how IASTM works, and to whom it may benefit.
What is IASTT?
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization Therapy is an evidence informed approach to the management of soft tissue conditions.
Practitioners will use a stainless steel tool to work on any areas they feel demonstrate scar tissue or restrictions within the fascia and underlying soft tissue.
More specifically, it runs interference on pain.
Ever whack your shin and rub it, and suddenly realize you feel better?
RockTape on the skin can interfere with painful signals which are directed to the brain.
When the signals arriving to the brain are altered, it does not produce the sensation of pain.
When kinesiology tape is properly applied, many of our customers call it "magic" or think that it fixed their injury instantly.
In fact, it helps to change how your body interprets pain, turning down the pain "volume" that your body hears.
What is Therapeutic Ultrasound?
Therapeutic ultrasound is a modality that has been used by physiotherapists since the 1940s.
Ultrasound is applied using the head of an ultrasound probe that is placed in direct contact with your skin via a transmission coupling gel.
The effect of ultrasound via an increase in local blood flow can be used to help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation, and, according to some studies, promote bone fracture healing.
The intensity or power density of the ultrasound can be adjusted depending on the desired effect.
Interferential current therapy is an effective therapy option used by many physiotherapy clinics to relieve pain and accelerate the self-healing process, getting your body back to a healthy, pain free state.
The high frequency signals of an IFC penetrate through the skin into deeper lying muscle tissues.
Electrodes are placed on your skin around the injured body part.
The Interferential Current device then transmits electrical impulses in minute quantities through your skin.
Underlying tissue and nerves are stimulated which begins the healing properties.
