With this said, the current movement is to get fit, loose weight and be active. Maybe this statement is the reason why the process of getting fit is causing issues that cause you to stop and revert to old ways. The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a 10 minute screen and is comprised of 7 movements and is not a medical diagnostic test.

It is strictly used as a guide/tool to make a person aware of movement dysfunctions and how current/future activities could lead to an increase chance of injury or a decreased performance.Again this is not a diagnostic tool used for treatment of ailments. The results of the screen can only be used as a general guideline for future exercise/activity limits and outcomes.

The FMS is used to assess functional movement patterns while a patient is PAIN FREE. If you are experiencing pain at this time the screen cannot be performed and it is recommended that you seek the advice of a health care professional for a complete evaluation of your pain. With the movement systems approach another set of tests, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, will further evaluate and treat painful areas.

Over the years we all have been bombarded with many helpful tips with regards to nutritional health.
The many different diets, foods, supplements, olive oil or vegetable oil, wines, beer, fish, garlic, butter or margarine, egg beaters, egg whites, no carbs, low carbs, low fat, high protein, etc.
Some of these ideas and thoughts are good, some are bad, and some can be good but in preparation they become bad.
A lot of nutrition is not about counting grams of this and calories from that, but what is done with these nutrients at the chemical level.
With the rapid rise of health care costs today and an unstable economy health care has become a major concern for many individuals.
Many questions arise over the best insurance coverage, deductibles, higher copays and an overall decrease in coverage.
One thing with all these questions and concerns is that we forget the simple fact that we are in charge of our own health and that means health care costs from your pocket.
Good health / health care begins and ends with each individuals choices and daily habits.
The best rule of thumb for this question is always use ice first.
Both of these at home treatments will help to decrease the pain sensation while applied, but ice has a physiological mechanism to decrease pain while the opposite occurs with heat.
This physiological mechanism is what will prevent the pain from lasting longer and minimize the intensity of pain over time.
We will briefly examine the reasoning for this.
The body's response to injury is the inflammatory process.
This occurs due to cell wall injury which in turn releases chemical mediators.
Have you been doing your stretches and exercises?
Most of us will respond with a "NO" because we are feeling better.
Yes, it is true that stretching and exercises help to remove the pain.
The importance of flexibility goes far beyond initial pain relief and extends to keep joints healthy and help pains from increasing in the future.
The problem lies in our communications with you.
People consult us for help when they are in pain, and treatments usually end with a series of spinal adjustments and a series of stretches for you to do at home.
With regards to health there is no such thing as a quick fix.
Our daily lives are polluted with commercials, billboards, T.V. and magazine adds for quick relief of health ailments.
I was recently talking to my mom regarding changing her food choices; she stated that she didn't want to have the weight come back when she stops doing the diet.
The point is, it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change.
You don't stop doing it.
These crash diets are great to loose weight, but the two important facts is that: they are unhealthy and the weight will return.
