Although most people have heard of chiropractic, many people aren't sure exactly what it entails. We want our patients to be empowered through education, so we provide this information to benefit those who are curious about chiropractic or who are considering it for themselves or a loved one. Chiropractic is a holistic, hands-on healing method that focuses on the musculoskeletal and nervous systems.

Chiropractic provides drug-free pain relief and improves the physical functioning of patients. Practitioners of chiropractic, who can be known as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians, hold degrees at the doctoral level. The mainstay of chiropractic treatment is manipulation, which is a hands-on form of treatment for joints that are causing pain and dysfunction.

Chiropractors may work on joints in the spine, arms, or legs. In addition to manipulation, a chiropractor may use adjunct treatments, such as muscle stimulation or therapeutic ultrasound, to help speed the healing process. Chiropractors also work with a patient to address any ergonomic issues that may be causing pain in the back, neck, or other joints.

Dr. Robin Barnes is completely dedicated to chiropractic in both her professional and personal lives.
As a child, she always had a deep desire to serve others.
After her parents were injured in a car crash, her father became a chiropractor, and she saw how much benefit his patients received from his treatments.
Dr. Barnes knew that she wanted to become a chiropractor so that she could help others to heal and to maintain their health.
Dr. Barnes graduated with honors from Texas Chiropractic College in 1984, obtaining her doctoral degree.

The mainstay of chiropractic treatment is adjustment.
Although there are a wide variety of different adjustment techniques currently in use, Dr. Barnes focuses on the diversified technique and the activator method.
Jamila has always felt that her calling was to help others with their healing journey.
Even as a youth, she often found herself massaging family members and friends.
While working as a software developer analyst, and raising a family, she heeded her calling and pursued her training in massage therapy and bodywork.
Jamila completed her core training at the top of her class in 2012 at the Institute of Therapeutic Massage, and continues to add to her skills on a regular basis.
As a mobile massage therapist, Jamila has served and helped several clients at multiple schools, and private homes.
If you drive for a living, then you're likely familiar with the CDL (commercial drivers license) medical exam.
Also known as a DOT (Department of Transportation) physical, this is a check by a health care professional to ensure that you don't have any medical conditions that could make driving dangerous.
Federal law contains a detailed list of medical requirements that commercial drivers must meet.
Having performed over a thousand of these exams, Dr. Barnes is very experienced at following the DOT's regulations and ensuring that your exam meets the required standard.
Our patients' comfort is very important to us.
We know that many people feel uncertain, or even nervous, when preparing to walk into a chiropractor's office for the first time.
By explaining what that first visit will look like, we hope that we can ease some of those first-time jitters and help you to feel calm and confident during your first appointment.
First, Dr. Barnes will conduct a complete history.
This will include your complete current and past medical history, as well as the history of any accident.
