Trauma produces soft tissue injuries and can vary in severity and location depending on the cause and which area of the body is affected.

Car accidents produce a whiplash injury most commonly to the neck and also the back. Sports injuries may affect any region of the body including the spinal area. The one thing all traumatic injuries have in common is the healing process. Each phase of the healing process requires different treatment to speed up the healing process and promote full recovery.

The second phase is called fibrosis of repair or proliferation. During this phase, which typically lasts 6-8 weeks, usually scar tissue formation is occurring. Scar tissue helps to connect the damaged soft tissue whether it be muscles or ligaments or both.
Services
Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health.
Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
Doctors of Chiropractic - often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians - practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment.
We understand that arriving at a doctor's office for the first time can be nerve racking.
If you've never experienced chiropractic care before, you may not know what to expect when you come to our Otsego chiropractic office for the first time.
Filling out paperwork, learning new faces and names, and getting to know your way around the office can be an overwhelming experience.
That's why at Northwest Spine And Pain Center our aim is to remove any unnecessary stress or tension and make you feel comfortable during your visit with our chiropractor.
Chiropractic care is like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly.
When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse.
If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem.
The same is true for your body.
Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully.
Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Chad Mattila to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options.
This initial visit is designed for Dr. Chad Mattila to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
After your consultation, Dr. Chad Mattila will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility.
Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well.
Most people are under the assumption that if they don't feel any pain that there is nothing wrong with them - that they are healthy.
Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of health.
In fact, pain and other symptoms frequently only appear after a disease or other condition has become advanced.
For example, consider a cavity in your tooth.
Does it hurt when it first develops or only after it has become serious?
How about heart disease?
Regardless of whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear.
