Depending upon many different factors, there are multiple structures in the neck that are damaged in a whiplash injury.
Some of the more common include: the facets (joints between vertebra) and their ligamentous capsules, discs, nerves, blood vessels, muscles and ligaments.
These injured areas can produce pain immediately after the collision, or it may take a few days to couple weeks to develop symptoms.
Left untreated or improper treatment, they can develop into a chronic and degenerative pain cycle.
As we age, many individuals assume that it is normal for our posture to become worse.
We see the little ol' lady or man walking hunched forward and wonder when we will become like this.
Yet what most do not realize is that poor posture is not normal AND it can contribute to health issues like: arthritis, disc and joint degeneration, pinched nerves, pain or numbness in the arms or legs and a host of back issues.
Poor posture is a problem.
If you were to draw a plumb line, it would go through the ear lobe, tip of the shoulder, center of the hip and knee and just in front of the ankle joint.
Leg pain or numbness can be cause by truama such as auto or work accidents, slips & falls or sports injury.
It can also be the results of repetitive motions, poor body mechanics or life style habits can cause an inflammation and irritation of various muscles, ligaments, joints and nerves.
The shoulder is a complex joint and there can be any number of problems that can cause pain.
Sports injuries are basically one of two types: an acute traumatic incident or repetitive over use.
If you are experiencing any of these conditions, call our office at (314) 731-4383 or CLICK TO CALL FOR A FREE CONSULTATION.
