What is a chiropractor?
A chiropractor is a licensed healthcare practitioner who utilizes the science and art of chiropractic.
Chiropractic is a Greek word that literally means "done by hand."
It is the third largest division within the modern healthcare system.
It is established in over 100 countries since being founded in 1895.
A chiropractor must complete undergraduate training and then 4 years of graduate training that includes extensive hands on education and parallels present day traditional medical education.

Recovering quickly from a disc injury can be crucial towards maintaining your overall well being.
Dr. Buerker is always happy to work with you and your medical providers or refer if necessary.
Please keep in mind not all disc injuries require surgery.
The physiology of a disc can be related to a tire on a car.
The outer shell is called the annulus fibrosis, a tight band thinner in the back than in the front, and a center liquid filled sac called the nucleus pulposus.
As you age the liquid content of the nucleus has a tendency to dry up.

Facet Syndrome occurs when the articular joints of the cervical or lumbar spine become inflamed.
The joints are the articulating surfaces between two vertebrae as seen in the picture above.
The facets are surrounded by a rich supply of nerves and a capsule that provides the synovial fluid which acts as the lubricant of the joint.
This syndrome is one of the more common of the re-occurring spine problems.
This syndrome can mimic a host of spinal problems, such as a disc herniation, infection, fracture, or torn muscle.
