When an individual sustains injuries from a motor vehicle crash, muscle spasm, and inflammation develop from soft-tissue damage resulting in pain.
The most common injury is a whiplash injury, however often the midback and low back get injured as well.
This muscle spasm prevents the normal range of motion of the spine and misalignments occur throughout the spine and other areas of the body.
If these injuries are not treated properly, it can result in permanent chronic problems later in life.
When soft-tissues are injured, they respond in a certain way that is not normal during certain movements such as turning or bending your head, or bending at the waist.
Whiplash injuries can range from mild to severe.
Injuries tend to be more significant when your headrest is positioned too low and you are rear ended, or even with a front end collision.
If the impact was quite severe it is likely that muscle, tendon, and ligament tissue is damaged.
If these injuries are not treated properly and in a timely manner, as the injuries heal, scar tissue will form, resulting in chronic issues years later.
This is why for example, after knee replacement surgery, they have you start moving your knee the same day to insure the tissues repair properly.
Many people are surprised to find out that the majority of work injuries do not occur because of serious accidents.
The truth is that many injuries in the workplace are a result from overuse injuries.
Each year in the United States millions of dollars are spent to help individuals with these problems.
In this article you will learn about how to improve your outcome with chiropractic care.
Some of the most common injuries in the workplace are low back injuries from heavy lifting and/or frequent lifting while bending, however many others are a result of repetitive stress.
Have you been told that you have a" slipped disc" or have a disc injury?
They can vary from slight to severe, but most require the attention of a trained chiropractor.
Our chiropractic clinic can help you understand your condition and help to develop the best treatment option for you.
The spinal discs are made of cartilage and are the "shock absorbers" of the spine.
They are composed of a tough outer ring, and a soft gel-like center.
A healthy disc is very strong, however repetitive stress on a disc over time weakens the outer covering, and a simple motion like bending over to lift something can cause the disc to herniate, resulting in back pain, and most often pain and numbness and tingling into the leg and foot.
